JEKYLL & HYDE

Jekyll & Hyde cannot be considered just a bar or just a restaurant, for like so many of us, Jekyll & Hyde is anything but singular. It is a community hub, full-service bar stocked with local beer, ciders, and wine, and a forward-thinking restaurant offering a menu full of local, ethically sourced food. We created the layout of Jekyll & Hyde to maintain a wonderful balance of opposites. Our dark, ambient lighting will welcome you into our comfortably designed seating. Cement flooring juxtaposed against an open layout full of beautiful plants and a moss-covered wall showcases the balance between nature and industrialization.

At Jekyll & Hyde, we believe that people don’t have a monster hidden inside of them, but that they do tend to hide away certain parts of themselves. We strive to create a welcoming environment where you won’t feel the need to unleash your inner beast because we welcome with open arms all who walk through our doors. We hope you’ll join us, whether it be your truest self or whatever alter ego strikes your fancy; we’ll save a seat for you.

As I drifted along, I quickly realizes this place was no regular canteen. An ambiance that at first I perceived as foreboding and shadowy was nothing of the sort. As I made my way through the warm, welcoming dark I felt an inner stillness of which I was wholly unfamiliar, yet welcomed all the same. I took a seat at the bar, and all parts of myself felt coalesced into being. Just a person, sitting at a bar, yet it felt like victory. A slight wave to the bartender was all it took, and even that gesture was liberating, as I was no longer hiding some part of myself. I felt seen. I raised the glass of cold beer in appreciation, receiving a nod of acknowledgement from the bartender, and took a sip. ‘Yes’ I thought to myself, ‘ I am here. And I am home’
